The project derives from Paul Wallevik’s wish to give something back to Ghana. Paul lived in Ghana from 1957 to 1974, where he founded his career in the furniture business. He established the successful factory Scanstyle Mim in the late 60’s producing furniture components for export. Even though Paul had to leave Ghana during one of its most turbulent and politically instable periods, his heart is still beating for the Ghanaian people and culture.
In late July 2007 Paul’s oldest son Lars Wallevik and his partner Kristine Munk made their first trip to Ghana to investigate how they could help Paul to establish a project in Ghana. Paul’s intention is to create long term income sources and good employment for the Ghanaians. It has all the time been meant to be a business project – but one with a holistic and humanitarian approach. When Lars and Kristine discovered that the neighbouring property to Scanstyle Mim was for sale, they quickly realized that this property would serve as the perfect platform for the project Paul had in mind.
